The stark and rugged beauty of the Sinai Peninsula is at its best at the peak of Mt Sinai. Here you can lookout onto vistas of breathtaking mountain landscapes that are stunningly silhouetted when the sun sets in the distance. At the top you’ll find a mosque and a Greek Orthodox chapel which houses the rock which is said to be the source for the biblical tablets of stone (the two pieces of stone, that according to the bible, were inscribed with the 10 commandments). You’ll also find the UNESCO listed Saint Catherine’s Monastery at the foot of the mountain.
