Mauritius is just 20 degrees south of the equator making it a fantastic year-round destination – not just for winter sun seekers. The peak temperatures don’t fluctuate too much throughout the year – instead they stay between 25°C in the middle of the year and 35°C – with the highest temperatures generally seen between December and February. The peak season extends from October to April, and it’s hot, humid and rainy, with a slight risk of cyclones from January to March. The winter is from May to September and is warm and dry, with fewer mosquitoes and more moderate, though still very warm days.

Bear in mind that the north coast can be extremely hot during the Mauritian summer, and the island’s microclimate can take a bit of getting used to – it can be raining on one part of the island with the sun shining five minutes away. So it’s useful to consider this when planning activities for the day.
